Death Sentence

Countries are meaningless things
The border keeps us hating
And we fall for it
We all fall for it
Murderers, smiling bureaucrats
Without any remorse they pass
A death sentence

The men are getting shaky and nervous
Nobody’s sleeping much
The sounds of bombs keeping us awake
Orders from above getting infrequent
And they’re starting to repeat themselves
I fear that without warning, soon the end will come
The trench is flooded
My feet are swollen and cold
Billy sobs beside me
He will never get old
We’re out of rations
I’ve already sent for more 6 times
And I cannot blame them for not wanting to waste supplies on us
Who cares?
Tomorrow we will make a desperate charge
Who cares?
Tomorrow there will be nowhere to hide
I got no honey back home
Even if I did, my heart has gone cold
How long will it take to calculate the cost?
When will we realise
We have lost?

Land

Conflict is shaped by geography
The earth supplies resources
Greed drains the source
Patriotism is a scam
They’ll convince you to die
For land
You’ll kil
For land

Show Tonight! 3 Acts! Proceeds Go To Charity!
I stumbled late into the venue avoiding eye contact like the other attendees were Gorgons. I spotted my friend but he was deep in conversation and I didnt wanna intrude, besides, all I really wanted to say was “hey”. A man from a band walked up and greeted me with a hug and smile. Last time I was here our eyes had met but we said nothing, I guess I’m not sure where we stand. He moved back to talk to my friend as the band started. Four teenagers with no musical skill stood there and screamed for a quarter of an hour while banging on instrument they knew nothing about. Near the front some guy danced like he was the only one there, forcing the crowd back. I kept looking behind me to make sure I didn’t bump into anyone. It was then that I heard the man in the band say to my friend “Why is he standing so weird?”. All of a sudden, I felt like a lump of clay in the shape of a man in the middle of the crowd, so I just closed my eyes. At least the screaming makes me happy.

Birth is a Lottery
01:40

If you had a choice, where would you have been born?
Would you pick new parents?
A new country?
Do you think that you would become the same person?
With the same career?
Same prejudices?
Same opinions?
Would you recognize yourself if you passed this new you on the street?
And do you think, if we had a choice, that it would leave vast areas of the earth unpopulated?
Whole countries, vacant.
Maybe even continents.
Empty.
While the more popular places would quickly fill to the brim with souls.
With no way to take care of them all.
Would that change your choice?

When the DJs have been drawn and quartered
When music starts to sound like torment
When the stars all flicker and die out
The blank will have their revenge
When they glue the talk show host’s mouth shut
When the villains have all been avenged
When they extinguish the candle with a hurricane
The blank will have their revenge
When they break down my door to my bedroom
When they point the gun to my head
I will smile, not a single worry in my head, for
The blank will have their revenge

The Pattern
00:41
|

History repeats itself
It’s funny how little we change
If you think you’re the good guy, you’re already gone
Your generation will oppress someone
You’re all capable of abuse
And sometimes, the good guys lose
The smallest mistake can make your empire fall
We try our best to make sense of it all but
The pattern is all that there is

I have my reasons
I have my choice
I’ve got my sanity and I have my voice
I have my money
Not much, but hey, I try
I’ve got my truth and I have my lies
I’ve got my friends
I have a car
I have food and shelter and I’ve got a guitar
I’ve got my bedroom
And I’ve got my bed
I have a headache even though I have no head
I’m not suicidal
I don’t wanna die
But sometimes I can’t help thinking
That I wish that I
Could disappear
Fall asleep and never wake up
